Sugarplum Faries

Sugarplum faries.print.final.jpg

I have an aesthetic fascination with the delightful idea of Sugarplum faries. I think that most of us are familiar with the story of Clara and her Nutcracker, but what inspired me for this print were the Sugarplum faries and what they would wear, what they would look like and where they would live. They are magical and dainty beings who have magic at the tip of their fingers, so I imagined that they might live in a grand pink, perfect, victorian style house with sparkles coming out of the windows. And since the Nutcracker is a ballet, I imagine that the Sugarplum faries are all ballet dancers who wear ballet slippers, with their own unique style and costume. I imagine that they have sparkly wings adorned with pearls, some wear short skirts with lots of sparkly tulle layers, others wear fairy crowns, some wear hats and some might actually wear dresses made out of sugar coated plums.
